I recently placed my first order with Poshmark for a sold-out "Lilly for Target" gold clutch from @axg. The clutch was posted on Sunday evening for $55, which is more than twice the retail value of the clutch. I purchased the item, paid immediately and received a confirmation for the item. Two days after confirmation of my purchase, I received an email from Poshmark stating that my order had been cancelled because of the reason, "seller changed mind."

Obviously I was unsatisfied with this reason and asked the Poshmark customer service how I could rate the seller for this unprofessional and disappointing transaction to warn other customers looking to buy from @axg. Poshmark informed me that I could not rate the seller because the transaction had not been completed.

I will not purchase anything from Poshmark again and instead take my business to eBay and other sites that have policies that protect not only the seller but also the buyer.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered.

Poshmark Cons: Customer service, Nasty seller.

Location: Washington, District Of Columbia

4 cancels in the last month. Iโ€™m done too

At the very least, cancellations should be reviewed to see if it does align with Poshmarkโ€™s rules that cancellations should only occur for extreme reasons. To those saying itโ€™s fine, you wouldnโ€™t expect the owner of a shop to call you after you purchased something and demand it back after you purchased it in store, especially for no other reason than they โ€changed their mind.โ€ Additionally, a huge part of Poshmark is customer service. If a seller does not provide even slightly decent customer service, there should be a way of warning other buyers that the seller hasnโ€™t been trustworthy.

Do not buy from bridget_bee_ who also cancelled an order after not shipping the item out, confirming that she would within the next two days, and blocking comments on her account after I commented on my purchase, โ€œwhy was my order cancelledโ€.

Guest

@antoniatull canceled my order because shipping fees were going to be higher than expected (not my problem, a deal is a deal). She then proceeded to repost all the items for a higher price. I think these types of sellers should be blocked from poshmark.

I was selling something for so low that I was going to make $1.50 after the shipping fee. It didn't make any sense to me.

I learned that I needed to price things higher initially. $1.50 wasn't worth the gas it took to get to the post office.

I cancel bundled order if people fail to read my terms which are keep bundles below 5 lb poshmark limit for the label you purchased and only bundle items that can ship safely togethet. If you are too stupid to follow those terms then I don't want that type of customer.

Do not purchase from @hwallace02 she outright lied to me by telling me she overnighted my package and then she cancelled my order. If you do not have time to ship out in a timely fashion then maybe poshmark is not for you!

How do I know postmark got my request to return 2 shirts that were not described correctly? Please let me know.

Guest

@jesslee98 does this too.

They'll say they are going to ship soon in the comments when you ask, then cancel the order and block you. I'm not sure why, but it's disappointing and sucks that you can't even contact them for an explanation.

If the seller decided she did not want to sell her item afterall....it's certainly her perogative. I can't believe you would get as the other reply stated here, in such a tizzy. Ebay and Mercari have the same set up for ratings....and it's a good one to keep people from going over the top about minute things

Guest

You didn't lose anything, so being in a tizzy over "protection" is pretty melodramatic. If you'd read the TOS you'd know about Poshmark's rating system going in.

What do you expect from a "marketplace" populated by teenager girls? Quality service and dependability?

I had a similar experience, and agree that one should be able to rate the seller/buyer despite the fact that the transaction was technically cancelled. After all, it is the cancellation I'm upset about, and yet there is absolutely no recourse.

I purchased boots from seller aelish110 on August 30th. Seller aelish110 had told me that she'd be out of town until September 2nd or 3rd, and asked me if it would be ok to ship then. I agreed, and she accepted my offer. It wasn't until September 7th that I received an (unapologetic) email from Poshmark (not the seller) that the order was cancelled due to...get this..."seller no longer has item." So I waited for SEVEN days on boots that the seller presumably sold to someone else, all the while I could have been seeking out and purchasing a replacement.

I'm taking a trip in a week or so, and these were to be an integral part of my wardrobe. This is BAD business for Poshmark. There should be a mechanism to hold sellers (and buyers) accountable for their actions after an offer and acceptance was made. Not only after the transaction was completed.

This narrow view of a buyer-seller relationship disregards the importance of following through with a commitment, which I think is one of the most important aspects of an online sale between two strangers, and a website that purports to facilitate such online sales. And now anyone who wants to transact with this seller will not have the benefit of knowing this information, which I think is the entire point of the review system in the first place. Btw, the seller no longer has an account on Poshmark and I haven't heard a word from her. Had she been up front, or even the slightest bit apologetic, I wouldn't be here ranting about my experience.

Note that the Poshmark Support Center simply states the following about cancelling a sale, "To cancel your order as a seller, go to the order screen and tap on 'Problems/Order Inquiry'.

The next screen will allow you as a seller to cancel the order. Please keep in mind that if you cancel the order without a buyerโ€™s request, it causes a huge inconvenience to the buyer and should not be done except under rare circumstances." (You don't say.) Clearly, by making it so accessible (and by not enforcing any consequences) it is being taken advantage of.

Also don't buy anything from @midwestse also she cancelled after I had shipped the item.

Before you bash anyone, maybe you should include ALL of the details, to be fair.

This person was after the 7 day window, and not only did she get her money for the item, she PROMPTLY received her item back to her. (Was returned).

I can certainly understand your frustration. Especially if it's something you really want.

Sadly it does happen sometime for various reasons. I had to cancel an order once because I misplaced it.

I felt horrible, profusely apologized to the customer and offered her a discount on any other item in my closet.

Guest

I canceled a sale once because as I went to pack a pair of studded shoes I noticed a stud missing. I had went over the shoes before listing and missed the flaw. I canceled the listing but explained and felt terrible.

Guest

Hello

I know I had to cancel an order because I misplaced the item. Totally my fault and I exclaimed it in full to my buyer.

Things happen some time. I do think you were owed an explanation of some sorts

I just had the same experience with lynne731, totally ***!!!! I clicked buy it now and two days later, she cancelled for reason of "other".

Bad bad website. Stay away!!!!

It's not a bad website because you had a bad experience. That's not how things work.

That is how things DON'T work on a website that has too much leniency for sellers to cancel orders and disappoint customers. Very unprofessional.
